Michael and Victoria Eames took over the Barrasford Arms in June 2017 and hope to make you feel very welcome during your time there. Michael has a wealth of experience as a top chef. From starting out at his local Northumberland pub as a pot wash, to working his way up at restaurants such as Fisherman’s Lodge in Newcastle, and Bouchon in Hexham, before coming the executive head chef at Slaley Hall Hotel, and most recently Malmaison Hotel in Dundee, Michael’s simple, elegant and well cooked food full of flavour will not disappoint.
In their short time at the pub they have already won North East Tourism Pub of the Year 2018, Bronze for North East Boutique Hotel of the Year, retained an AA 1 Rosette, gained AA 4* rating for our accommodation, and also listed in some of the prestigious food guides, including the ‘The Good Food Guide’ and ‘The Good Pub Guide’.

The North Pennines has a vibrant history of lead mining as a result of its amazing landscape. Haggs Bank Bunkhouse was originally part of this industry, being a mine shop and forge for the miners to rest their heads and mend their tools between shifts underground.
Today, Haggs Bank Bunkhouse offers travellers a friendly welcome within a warm, renovated building with a touring site with electric hook-ups and the adjoining campsite in our wild flower meadow offers an option to get even closer to nature!
The whole site has been created to help keep our environmental footprint to a minimum. We have our own private spring water supply and treatment plant to make sure any water leaving our site after we’ve used it is of the highest quality. The building has superb insulation to keep it toastie warm all year round! We are currently applying for our Green Tourism award.
